#1 ATTACKED BY HER ROOMATE
Danielle Jones, a 23-year-old woman from Miami, has been in a coma for over a week after being attacked by her roomate. Jones had met the suspect, 35-year-old Byron Mitchell, a week before the attack, through Craigslist.
#2 SERIOUS INJURIES
Jones was strangled and cut up by her new roommate on the night of her 23rd birthday. According to her mother, Jones has a brain injury and multiple scars on her face and neck, and doctors still don’t know when she’s going to wake up or if she will.
#3 BYRON MITCHELL
Byron Mitchell was charged with attempted murder. But the 35-year-old man told the police he was trying to defend himself since Jones was holding a knife.
#4 HER PROGNOSIS IS UNKNOWN
Jones mother, Aimee Nikolove, is having a hard time dealing with the situation: ‘I’m still in shock, I can’t comprehend that someone can do this to someone, mutilate them in such a way and try to kill them,’ Nikolove told NBC in a recent interview. ‘My daughter’s face is cut up like he was going to take her face off. She has a brain injury.
